The “New York Times” called Lake Orta once the secret little sister of the Italian lakes in northern Italy. Right above Orta you can walk up to “Sacro Monte” which was inserted by UNESCO in the World Heritage List.
On the Isle of San Giulio you will find the Benedictine monastery as well as other beautiful frescoed houses, if you look closely you will discover peculiar doorknobs.

Take the roundabout to enter Orta, then turn immediately left to via Fava. Keep driving along the lake (the lake has to be on your left hand side) until you reach via Giovanetti. Don’t follow the instructions of your GPS, they are often wrong in Orta.
